Artificial Grass Installation Instructions:

Outdoor Installation

1. Surface Preparation:

• Remove Existing Material: Clear grasses, sods, mulches, etc., from the marked areas. For landscaping around trees and other obstacles, mark and account for the turf edge configuration. Leave space around tree bases.

2. Base Construction:

• Cap Sprinklers: Cap any unused sprinklers at the pipe level to prevent leakage. Relocate sprinklers if necessary and mark their locations. Move electrical sprinklers and wiring inward by 6-8 inches to avoid damage during installation.
• Install Base: Add a layer of decomposed granite (DG), which allows for proper drainage. Install DG to a depth of 3 inches, distribute evenly, and compact using vibration, tamping, and rolling. Let it settle, ensuring a flat surface.

3. Lay Turf:

• Cut Turf Pad: If using a turf pad, cut a hole in the base to match the pad size and depth.
• Roll Out Weed Cloth: Prevent weeds by rolling out weed cloth, overlapping edges by 6 inches, and securing with flat-head nails. Trim to fit the landscape area, leaving a 1/4” gap along the border. Avoid driving nails too deeply.

4. Fit and Secure Turf:

• Align Turf: Use straight or perpendicular edges for alignment, square the turf, and secure edges with temporary nails. Over-cut the turf by one inch along edges for proper fitting.
• Seam Turf: Use a seaming tool and cut the turf in an S-shape to avoid creating discoloration. Install nails every 6 inches along the edge, driving them 3/4 of the way down. Use U-nails every 6 inches for seams, ensuring they are level and hidden.
• Tuck and Brush: Tuck the turf edges using a metal bar (wonder bar) for a clean finish. Brush against the grain to make the turf stand up. Apply infill or sand evenly to support the blades and create stability. Brush again to force infill into the base and remove excess debris.

Indoor Installation

1. Surface Preparation:

• Clean and Level: Ensure the surface is level, clean, and dry. Suitable surfaces include concrete, dusting, powdering concrete, gypcrete, pressure-treated decking, wood, or backer board.
• Dry Lay: Unroll the turf to check fit and alignment. Check manufacturing details stamped on the backing for fiber direction.

2. Adhesive Application:

• Apply Adhesive: Use adhesive or double-sided tape on the surface.
• Lay the Turf: Position the turf and apply a bead of seam sealer to all seams.
• Roll: Use a 75 lb. weighted roller to press down the turf across its width and length.
• Cure: Allow the installation to remain in dry conditions for 72 hours for proper adhesive curing.

Artificial Grass Maintenance:

1. General Cleaning:

• Sweeping: Periodically sweep loose dirt, dust, and debris from the turf surface.

2. Stains and Blemishes:

• Clean: Use a warm water solution with household detergent. Avoid bleach.

3. Animal Urine:

• Clean: Use a mixture of white distilled vinegar and water. Flush thoroughly and vacuum any excess solution.

4. Chewing Gum:

• Remove: Use dry ice or refrigerant packets to freeze and remove gum.

5. Matted Turf:

• Brush: Use a synthetic brush to lift matted fibers. Avoid metal or wire-bristled brushes.
